Dom promoting iPhoneDevCamp 2 in 2008

VisionDevCamp is the creation of a team of volunteers who’ve been organizing not-for-profit developer events for Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iOS since 2007.

Beginning with iPhoneDevCamp in 2007 for the launch of the original iPhone, the event was focused on web development. The following year, iPhoneDevCamp 2, embraced the new native SDK and the development of Apps for the App Store. The event continued for many years under the names iPhoneDevCamp, iPadDevCamp, and finally iOSDevCamp. Each event was not-for-profit and focused on supporting the emerging developer ecosystem for iPhone, iPad, and iOS.

You can read more about the history of DevCamps from “The Origin Story” by Raven Zachary and “The Vision” by Dom Sagolla.

With the launch of Apple Vision Pro and visionOS, the team responsible for these developer events is reuniting to celebrate and support the launch of Apple’s first spatial computer.

Success Stories

What do SquareGetaroundOAuth, the Obama ’08 iPhone app, and Apple’s TestFlight have in common? They each have origins at one of our events.

Each year, hundreds of developers, designers, and enthusiasts gathered to create apps for iPhone, iPad, and iOS. Some of these apps eventually made their way to the App Store as public apps, and others went on to become entire businesses.
